Oak-frame architect profile Stead Mutton Griggs Chartered Architects
SMG Chartered Architects is an award-winning practice based in Norfolk. The practice was founded in 1980 and works on a wide range of projects, from small domestic extensions through to large retail projects. SMG has recently won a Conservation Design Award for an oak post and timber construction private residential barn conversion which is featured on this website and SMG’s practice website.

SMG Chartered Architects has a proactive interest in sustainable design and, in particular, oak frame construction. SMG is keen to develop an early understanding of the client’s needs so that the practice can deliver a sustainable design that fulfils those needs and is within budget. SMG believes good design makes a positive contribution to the built environment but also impacts significantly on the client’s wellbeing. Each design is bespoke and site specific, ensuring SMG responds to the environment and site constraints. Each design is a blend of progressive, contemporary design based on well established methods. SMG would be delighted to review all projects, offering free consultation with no obligation for the first appointment.
