The practice has been established since 1984, offering well-considered, innovative solutions for new residential and commercial buildings, as well as conversions, additions and adaptations.
The practice portfolio demonstrates a thorough understanding of the building process, its materials and components, implemented with a keen creative insight and design sensitivity. Ian is also fully-conversant with emerging sustainability measures required to take us through from now until 2016, when all new homes will have to be delivered as ‘carbon zero’.
As a long-standing member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, MCIAT, Ian has gained extensive experience in successfully guiding his schemes through the planning process, including projects requiring special heritage, environmental and ecological consideration.
Oak-framing plays an important part in the work the practice does. Not only do the sustainable credentials make oak a natural choice for a number of Ian Slater’s projects, but its durable qualities can be equally suitable for traditional or contemporary designs.
