Oak-frame architect profile Garry Adam Chartered Architect
Garry Adam’s studio enjoys designing great spaces of an intimate character using natural materials and good daylight. The practice has considerable experience in using timber post and beam structures in traditional and modern methods.

Garry Adam’s studio specialises in high quality architectural design of sensitive, functional and cost-effective buildings.
The practice aims to get the best possible product from any given project brief, site, context and budget. Garry Adam’s studio likes to work closely with clients to design a building which uses natural materials and maximises natural light to create intimate solutions which fit comfortably within their environment.
Timber is the most sustainable of all building materials, and fortunately, handled in the right way, it is also beautiful and functional. Exposing a timber structure gives warmth and order to a space. Whether the timber structure is intended to be dramatic, contemporary or subtle and more of a quiet background, the use of post and beam architecture is as relevant today as it was hundreds of years ago.
The practice’s timber-based design work ranges from refurbishments of listed buildings in conservation areas to contemporary new buildings, from one-off individually designed houses and barn conversions in a rural setting to larger multiple house and flat developments in an urban setting.
